The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced that submissions for the 2016 JUNO Awards will close on Friday, November 13th. Apply online at this location JUNO Week will be held in Calgary, Alberta, March 28 – April 3, 2016.

Eligibility for the 2016 JUNO Awards applies to music released for national sale between September 1, 2014 and November 13, 2015. Heavy Metal Album of the Year Criteria:
Album-length original recordings will be judged on artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence. Eligible albums include heavy metal, traditional/classic metal, metalcore, thrash metal, death metal, black metal and their respective sub-genres including (but not limited to) nu-metal, power metal, grindcore, extreme metal, industrial metal, Viking metal, folk metal, doom metal, gothic metal, speed metal, symphonic metal, noise metal, and sludge metal.
Rock, punk, crossover and hardcore artists are not eligible for this category. There are no sales qualifications for this category.
