Fan-filmed video footage of DOKKEN‘s November 2 performance at Proof Rooftop in Houston, Texas can be seen below.
As previously reported, guitarist Ira Black (I AM MORBID, METAL CHURCH, LIZZY BORDEN, WESTFIELD MASSACRE) has joined DOKKEN for nine U.S. tour dates in November and December.
Black made his live debut with DOKKEN in Houston, and will perform with the group on November 4 at the Rockfest 80’s festival in Pembroke Pines, Florida, to be followed by seven shows in December.
Black said in a statement: “I am very excited to be playing with DOKKEN. To play all these great songs live is a great honor, not to mention all these insane George Lynch solos!
“I remember when I was thirteen years old playing guitar on my porch and listening to ‘Tooth And Nail’, trying to play these songs… Imagine if someone told me back then that I would eventually do this. Well, my mind is blown NOW!”
It is not presently clear how Black‘s addition to DOKKEN‘s lineup affects the status of the band’s longtime guitarist Jon Levin, who has been with the group since 2003.
Don Dokken recently confirmed that DOKKEN is planning to begin writing a new studio album this fall for a tentative 2018 release. The disc will mark the band’s first collection of all-new material since 2012’s “Broken Bones” effort.
Don also revealed that DOKKEN‘s next studio album will feature a sound and style that is very reminiscent of the band’s classic releases.
“Broken Bones” sold around 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 173 on The Billboard 200 chart.
DOKKEN‘s current lineup is completed by drummer “Wild” Mick Brown and bassist Chris McCarvil.
