Metal and comics will once again come together as one at the 50th anniversary of San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC) with a special live performance from Bay Area thrash metal legends EXODUS. The intimate event, dubbed “Bonded By Con”, will take place on Thursday, July 18 at the House of Blues.

Tickets are on sale now at this location.

Vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza comments: “It’s our honor to destroy the House of Blues San Diego for Comic-Con. We’re looking forward to seeing all of the fans of horror, sci-fi and pop culture, as well as the EXODUS fans who always come out to get in the pit and do the Toxic Waltz!! Comic-Con will never be the same!!”

This evening with EXODUS is the official Nuclear Blast Comic-Con Kick-Off Party sponsored by Court Of The Dead, Stern Pinball, and Rebellion Republic. Stay tuned for more announcements from Nuclear Blast / Stern Pinball / Rebellion Republic Comic-Con Booth #501 coming soon.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, EXODUS recently unleashed a new single titled “No Love (Live At Day In The Dirt 1984)”. The band is pleased to announce that the aforementioned single — featuring a rare demo version of “Death Row” on the B-side, which is only available on this release — can now also be purchased on limited seven-inch vinyl at this location.

In a recent interview with Metal Casino, EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt said that he has been writing material for the band’s follow-up to 2014’s “Blood In Blood Out” album “for a long time. And we’re just taking our time,” he said. “We’re in no hurry. It’s been four years, and if it takes two more, we’re gonna spend the time and do it right.

“The new material is just savage,” he continued. “It should be illegal, it’s so heavy. It’s fucking criminal. Brutal — fast as fuck.”

Holt joined EXODUS in 1981 shortly after the band’s formation, and has been its main songwriter ever since. Holt has performed on every EXODUS album, and is considered highly influential in the world of thrash metal. In 2011, he began filling in for SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman at live shows, and became the band’s full-time co-guitarist as of 2013, while remaining a member of EXODUS. In October 2014, EXODUS released its tenth studio album, “Blood In Blood Out”, on the Nuclear Blast label.

“Blood In Blood Out” marked EXODUS‘s first album since the departure of the group’s lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004.
