Le Crucified Barbara, a dispetto del nome assai poco attraente, sono un gruppo assai interessante composto nientemeno che da quattro belle ragazze svedesi amanti del rock’n’roll.
“Losing the Game” è il primo singolo tratto dal debut album “In Distortion We Trust”, e contiene due differenti versioni del brano più una cover di “Killed by Death” dei Motörhead (!!).
Fin dalle prime note è ben chiaro che le quattro ragazze non scherzano affatto, con una produzione di primo livello, chitarre a tutto volume e groove a palate: riff, assoli, un ritornello cantabile ma aggressivo, tutti gli ingredienti per un pezzo di roccioso hard rock tanto catchy quanto sorprendente.
Il paragone più immediato è con le statunitensi Phantom Blue del fantastico “Built to Perform” (1993), cui le Crucified Barbara, pur con le dovute proporzioni, somigliano parecchio a partire dalla voce fino ad arrivare al sound in generale.
La cover dei Motörhead, piuttosto fedele ma comunque coinvolgente, non fa altro che confermare l’efficacia del singolo come apripista per l’album, che a questo punto sono davvero curioso di sentire.
Se vi piace il rock genuino date un ascolto a queste ragazze, ne vale la pena.
