MICK BROWN Says DON DOKKEN And GEORGE LYNCH Are 'Already Starting Up' With Their Bickering

During a brand new interview with Focus On Metal, DOKKEN drummer “Wild” Mick Brown was asked about the reunion of the band’s classic lineup for six shows in Japan as well as a warm-up gig in South Dakota. Speaking about the tension that still prevails between DOKKEN leader Don Dokken and guitarist George Lynch, Mick said: “Nothing’s changed. I know George and Don, during the conversations to get this going, they’re already starting up. And Jeff [Pilson, bass] and I are kind of… Jeff seems excited about it.

“I would like to see it happen with nothing… There’s not much time, so I know we’ve just gotta get in and do it and go, and Jeff [will then get] back to FOREIGNER, ’cause they barely give him any time off; he’s only got a ten- or twelve-day window, I guess, to do this. So we don’t have any time for much bickering. But I’m a little standoffish about it. Maybe I’ll get a good feeling from it when it happens; I hope to.”

He continued: “Listen, I hate to say this… I would love to do it for all artistic reasons and I’d really like to be excited [and go], ‘Oh, the band’s back together.’ But I don’t feel that way. And I’ve gotta be honest with you. I just don’t. It’s a money thing, and the money’s too good.

“Listen, I’m tired of the bad-attitude stuff. And you put Don and George together, and it just starts happening again, and then it gets really confusing. I think it’s very sad when grown men act that way. And I’m tired of being around it, but here we go. And listen, for that kind of money, I’ll shut up and do what we used to do. Jeff and I stand will there and go… just the same way we did before. [Laughs]

“Right now, it seems like it’s only gonna be about six shows, I think, and if we blink, this will be over.”

Brown added: “You know, what’s probably gonna happen is we’ll probably end up doing it, it’ll come off really well, really successful, and then they’re gonna talk about doing it again. And I’ll be, like, ‘Oh, man. Here we go, all over again.’ [Laughs]”

As previously reported, the classic lineup of DOKKEN will play its only U.S. reunion show on September 30 at Badlands Pawn Guns Gold And Rock ‘N’ Roll in Sioux Falls. The concert will be a warm-up gig for the band’s six-show Japanese run dubbed “Unleashed In The East”.

Dokken, Brown, Lynch and Pilson will launch the Japanese tour on October 5 in Osaka, before heading to Fukuoka, Tokyo for an appearance at the Loud Park festival and continuing on to Hiroshima, Aichi and finally, back to Tokyo for the final show on October 12.
