Fan-filmed video footage of GHOST‘s September 18 performance at the Rock Allegiance festival in Chester, Pennsylvania can be seen below.
As previously reported, GHOST has recruited a female bassist for its “Popestar” North American tour, which kicked off on Friday night (September 16) in Rochester, New York. As with all the members of the band, the new member’s identity has not been divulged and she is just one of the five Nameless Ghouls behind singer Papa Emeritus.
Although two early rumors making the rounds suggested that the bassist was either ex-WHITE ZOMBIE member Sean Yseult or Swedish musician Linnéa Olsson, who previously played guitar in THE OATH and GRAVE PLEASURES, it is believed that GHOST‘s latest addition is actually a different American female musician.
None of the band members’ real names have ever been revealed, although Papa Emeritus is believed to be Swedish rock musician Tobias Forge. The other five musicians are simply known as Nameless Ghouls.
Since none of the musicians in the band are ever identified, personnel changes in the group have gone unannounced. It is believed, however, that the lineup has changed a few times over the years.
GHOST was missing a Ghoul on its last North American tour, with the rhythm guitarist absent from the roster for that run. The current trek, in support of the band’s new “Popestar” EP, features all six members onstage again. It appears, however, that the Ghoul previously playing bass has now moved to rhythm guitar and that the previous rhythm guitarist is out of the group.
The five-song “Popestar” EP features covers of songs from bands like ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN and EURYTHMICS along with a new original tune called “Square Hammer”.
