ANNIHILATOR Frontman JEFF WATERS Speaks Out Against Montreal's Controversial Pit Bull Ban – "Ignorant And Sick Legislation"

According to a report issued by CBC News, nearly four months after a brutal dog attack that claimed the life of a Montreal woman, the city has passed its contentious pit bull ban.

City council voted Tuesday in favour of changes to its animal control bylaw that include a ban on new ownership of pit bull and pit bull-type dogs. The final vote was 37-23 in favour of the ban.

“My duty as mayor of Montreal is making sure I am working for all Montrealers,” said Denis Coderre. “And I am there to make sure they feel safe and that they are safe.”

The city announced that the new rules, including the ban on new ownership of pit bull or pit bull-type dogs, will go into effect across all 19 Montreal boroughs starting Oct. 3.

Annihilator frontman Jeff Waters has spoken up regarding the decision, posting the following message on Facebook:

“Please, Montreal, do everything you can to reverse your city council’s ill-informed, ignorant and sick legislation regarding pit-bull ‘type’ dogs. No point bringing up the idiot owners who mistreat/abuse/not train their powerful dogs, and that the city council’s logic makes no sense when you consider there are many breeds that you can ‘abuse/train’ to attack. So ban German Shepherds then! How about others?

Kudos to Saskatchewan dog lovers and others for saving the lives of a number of pit bulls from Montreal who were in danger of being euthanized. The new animal control ban goes into effect on Monday. Go SPCA for getting a judicial review. Please stop them, Montreal… u can do it!”
