According to Billboard, AVENGED SEVENFOLD has cracked the top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot Rock Songs chart for the first time in nearly five years with the title track of its new album, “The Stage”. The song had 1.9 million U.S. streams and sold 15,000 downloads in the week ending October 20, moving from position No. 22 to No. 10 on the chart dated November 5. The track is also the band’s fourth No. 1 on Hard Rock Digital Song Sales (3-1) and it is the Greatest Gainer (30-15) on Mainstream Rock Songs, leaping by 130 percent in plays. It surges 49-40 on Rock Airplay with 1.5 million audience impressions in the week ending October 23.
“The Stage” album is expected to be released this Friday, October 28. Record stores reportedly began receiving physical copies of the CD and posting images of the cover art online, including Quebec’s Musik Universe and the Canadian site for Amazon. The surprise release will follow a performance by the group on Thursday night (October 27), which will be streamed live online in 3D.
Until now, rumors had circulated that the band’s seventh studio effort was titled “Voltaic Oceans” and that it would possibly be released in early December.
The 71-minute disc contains the following 11 tracks: “The Stage”, “Paradigm”, “Sunny Disposition”, “God Damn”, “Creating God”, “Angels”, “Simulation”, “Higher”, “Roman Sky”, “Fermi Paradox” and “Exist”. The title track and its video were released two weeks ago.
All but two of the songs are five minutes or more in length, while the final track, “Exist”, clocks in at over 15 minutes.
The band launched its campaign for the new album — its first for Capitol Records — with projections or pictures of the band’s mascot, the Deathbat, in cities around the world.
