During a recent appearance on “The Jasta Show”, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck spoke about his desire to pursue other musical projects away from his main band. “I had that side project AXEWOUND a few years ago,” he said. “And that was fun to do, with Liam [Cormier] from CANCER BATS and a guy called Mike [Kingswood] who’s in a band called GLAMOUR OF THE KILL from the U.K. and Jase [Jason Bowld], who’s actually the drummer in BULLET now. I loved doing that. It was almost going back to the era of when BULLET was just starting; you could do whatever you want, and there was no rule or formula or anticipation of what people expect. It was, like, ‘I can do what the hell I want right now,’ and it was such a cool feeling. So we did, and we just made this crazy metal record. It was fun.
“I’m up for collaborating and jamming with anyone, as long as they’re up for doing it,” he continued. “For BULLET, it’s a time-management issue; we just don’t have time for anything other than BULLET. It’s such a dominant force in all our lives that it’s really… As much I wanna do solo stuff and I’d like to go into producing one day, spread my wings, do other stuff, I can’t ever seem to make this machine stop. And it’s tough. And I don’t want it to, but a part of me wants it to kind of just have a minute where I can just go and do something else. I’ve been doing it for a long time. My brain needs stimulation in other areas of the music world.”
Tuck went on to say that BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE‘s continued success dictates that the band remain on the road for months at a time, making it virtually impossible for him to get involved in outside opportunities. “It’s just become a bigger thing than we ever thought it was gonna become, so we’re just trying to go with the flow when there’s a flow,” he said. “The band, like I said, is always busy and is always in demand, which is a great thing, so it seems foolish to stop. But there are other things I would like to try in my life, while I’m still pretty young and healthy and have got a lot of fucking spunk.”
He added: “BULLET is always my baby and one of the proudest I’ve ever done in my life, but I think I’ve got a lot to give elsewhere.”
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, “Gravity”, which was issued in June. The effort was made available through BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE‘s new label home, Search And Destroy, the imprint launched in 2014 by Spinefarm and international artist management company Raw Power Management.
