SOUNDGARDEN frontman Chris Cornell‘s cover version of of Lorraine Ellison‘s 1966 soul song “Stay With Me Baby” can be streamed below. The track is taken from the soundtrack for HBO‘s “Vinyl” series, which combines previously released tracks with a handful of songs that were previously unavailable.

“Vinyl: Music From The HBO Original Series – The Essentials: Best of Season 1” is being released today (Friday, April 15) on Atlantic/Warner Bros.

“Vinyl” is the Martin Scorsese– and Mick Jagger-produced HBO drama that stars Bobby Cannavale as troubled record-label executive Richie Finestra. The series concludes its first season on Sunday, April 17.

“I was very honored to be asked to record a version of ‘Stay With Me Baby’ for ‘Vinyl’,” Cornell told Vulture. “I get to pay tribute to Terry Reid, whose version of the song has been a favorite of mine for many years, and be included on a great soundtrack with an amazing group of artists.”

The second North American leg of Cornell‘s critically acclaimed “Higher Truth” world tour will kick off on June 16 in Clearwater, Florida and travel up the East Coast through the Midwest and up to the Pacific Northwest before winding down on July 27 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Along the way, Cornell will make his first appearance at the Ravinia festival on July 3 in Highland Park, Illinois.

“Higher Truth” was released on September 18, 2015. Cornell‘s first album on his own since 2009’s controversial “Scream” is in the singer-songwriter vein and very different from his work with SOUNDGARDEN.
