Fan-filmed video footage of the first concert of DEF LEPPARD‘s U.S. tour, which kicked off on June 23 at Mid Florida Credit Union Amphitheater in Tampa, Florida, can be seen below.
LEPPARD is currently headlining a massive summer tour with STYX and special guests TESLA.
DEF LEPPARD guitarist Vivian Campbell, who is continuing to battle cancer, missed the first couple of shows of the trek due to treatment and was temporarily replaced by TRIXTER guitarist Steve Brown, who has been on hand to fill in for Campbell in the past.
Although Campbell was supposed to rejoin DEF LEPPARD on stage last night (Saturday, June 27) in Birmingham, Alabama, he missed the gig for reasons that are apparently unrelated to his cancer treatment.
DEF LEPPARD frontman Joe Elliott told The Pulse Of Radio that he preps strenuously before each and every one of the band’s road trips. “I’ve seen a lot of people start a tour out, and then three days into the tour have to cancel at least a couple of gigs ’cause they’ve blown their voice out,” he said. “So what I try and do is make the first gig we do actually the 20th that my body’s done, and I have my blowout 17 days before the tour starts. It’s a muscle. You’ve just got to stretch it and get it into shape.”
DEF LEPPARD recently completed work on its eleventh album, which will be a self-titled affair. A fall release is expected.
