The Wagnerian Opera Metal project Lyraka announced today the recruitment of Tiina Teal for vocals. Teal, perhaps best known for her participation with underground thrash/death legends Détente on the enthusiastically received Decline album, was contacted after singer Liz Vandall was unable to finish recording (for personal reasons).
The composer-guitarist for the project, Andy DiGelsomina, said “Tiina has a uniquely scathing Thrash and Death Metal vocal style as a fan-beloved base, but she varies her approaches and tones within her overall delivery, bringing an idiosyncratic, dynamic range to the style. Other female Death metal singers have experimented with this multidimensional approach, but precious few have integrated it into their overall style as smootly as Tiina. Another big plus for an opera composer is the creative and expert ways she arranges her vocals; Tiina really knows how to frame her parts toward her best advantage.”
Lyraka Volume 2 is scheduled for release summer of 2015, more information here.
