Vantano alcuni demo-cd, varie apparizioni su compilation underground ed un paio di full lenght i nostrani Essenza, band attiva sin dal 1993 e per l’occasione impegnata nella promozione di questo nuovo promo-cd di tre pezzi. Il genere proposto dai tre è giustamente inquadrabile a metà strada tra i territori dell’heavy metal e quelli dell’hard rock propriamente inteso, fermo restando che l’esperienza della band non preclude ai nostri nemmeno puntatine in territori power. Un sound corposo e quadrato, affinato in sede live durante le numerose esibizioni della band e qui alla ricerca del tanto agognato contratto discografico. Seguendo quest’ottica, ciò che forse preclude alla band italiana un riscontro ben più generoso è l’operato di Carlo Rizzello alla voce, dotato di una discutibile pronuncia in lingua inglese e sicuramente più appropriato nel ruolo di chitarrista compositore dove, tra l’altro, svolge un ottimo lavoro. Per il resto, i tre brani presentati evidenziano le qualità di una compagine rodata e sicuramente in grado di farsi valere anche in ambiti non prettamente underground, al patto che si recluti un cantante di qualità. Nel promo-cd è contenuta anche una buona traccia video dell’iniziale “Deep Into Your Eyes”, in cui gli Essenza compaiono al completo e non senza qualche imbarazzo davanti alle telecamere.
