Ryan Westward of the 98.9 The Rock radio station conducted an interview with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH bassist Chris Kael and guitarist Zoltan Bathory at this year’s Rockfest on June 2 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about the seemingly bitter nature of some of the lyrics on FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH‘s latest album, “And Justice For None”, Kael said: “You’ve gotta realize that when that album was being written, we were going through lawsuits… everything else going on with that as well. So the stuff that you hear on that record is Ivan [Moody, vocals] wearing his emotions on the sleeve and getting it all out there beautifully. It’s great that we had a chance to get into the studio and purge all that stuff. And now we’ve gone through all those hardships and I think we’re getting along better than we ever have. I mean, it’s always been pretty good, but right now, it’s like everybody’s positive, and it’s been great.”

Added Zoltan: “Every record is basically a time capsule, and if you look at this particular record, it was sort of encapsulating our biggest two years but the most chaotic ones as well. So when you’re listening to that record, as Chris just said, you’re actually hearing what happened in the eye of the tornado when we were in the middle of it. Now we are great, but when we did this record, holy cow, man! You should have seen that.”

“And Justice For None” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart with 71,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 60,000 were in traditional album sales.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH previously landed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart with “Got Your Six” (No. 2, 2015), “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell: Volume 2” (No. 2, 2013), “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell: Volume 1” (No. 2, 2013), “American Capitalist” (No. 3, 2011) and “War Is the Answer” (No. 7, 2009). According to Billboard, the group’s only studio album to miss the top 10 was its debut effort, “The Way Of The Fist”, which topped out at No. 107 in 2008.
