Former SCORPIONS Producer Dieter Dierks – “They Will Die On Stage”

Gegers from Scorpions’ Official French fan club, Crazyscorps, conducted an interview with Dieter Dierks, Scorpions’ producer during their golden age. The 72-year old producer talks about his discovery of the band, the approach to production and his feelings about the longevity of the band. A brief excerpt follows:

Q: The Scorpions said in magazines that they had contacted you in order to produce their 2004 Unbreakable, but it did not happen. Can you tell us why?

A: “We could not agree on the financial conditions and that was that.”

Q: The band celebrates its 50th birthday this year. When working with them in the 70s, would you have bet on such a longevity for the band?

A: “Absolutely, they will die on stage.”
