GUNS N’ ROSES was booed at its concert in Melbourne, Australia Tuesday night (February 14) after the band’s announcer mistakenly called out the wrong city at the start of the show.

The Axl Rose-fronted group was already nearly an hour late when guitar technician McBob, who has been introducing GUNS N’ ROSES on stages around the world for a number of years, shouted “Sydney.” After a brief pause, the restless fans let him know he had the wrong place, but not before the slip-up and the booing was captured and posted on Twitter and YouTube.

“You’re in Melbourne,” yelled one crowd member, as the band kicked off the show at Melbourne Cricket Ground with “It’s So Easy”, complete with fireworks.

GUNS N’ ROSES later tweeted an apology for the mistake, explaining that McBob “accidentally … made an error” for the first time in thirty years.

Guitarist Slash tweeted that it was a “Spinal Tap intro” but said it was an “awesome fucking evening” and the band “had a great fucking time.”

Predictably, the concert was trending on Twitter on Tuesday night, with many of the 70,000 fans in attendance expressing their anger over the blunder.
