Reports are circulating that fans who have hit cinemas this weekend to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens have been unexpectedly treated to three brief trailer clips of the Guns N’ Roses classic “Welcome To The Jungle” being played over black-and-white crowd footage prior to the film. No explanation as to why the clips are piggybacking the biggest movie of the year has been given, adding to the mystery surrounding the reunion rumours currently running rampant in the press.
In time for Christmas, Guns N’ Roses teased fans with the possibility of a reunion of sorts on the horizon with the band’s official website updating its main page with the classic Appetite For Destruction-era logo. But nothing is official, aside from the usual unreliable internet speculation and the fact that in August Slash confirmed that he had reconnected with Axl Rose. And recently the band has been selling merchandise featuring images of the original line-up which included Axl, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stadlin, and Steven Adler.
About the ongoing fanaticism with the phenomenon of Guns N’ Roses, Slash told BraveWords: “One thing that’s a huge honor about Guns is that we have this ongoing appreciation. Nobody could ask for a better situation other than still being together I suppose. It’s a constant generational turnover. Just to have generations of people that weren’t around when we started, still freaking out over a record. It’s nice to be included in that group of albums that will always stand the test of time.”
Guns N’ Roses’ last classic lineup – Axl, Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke, last performed together in Argentina in July 1993.
