Behind-the-scenes footage from the making of HALESTORM‘s official music video for the song “Do Not Disturb” can be seen below. The clip was directed by Roboshobo (a.k.a. Robert Schober), who has previously worked with METALLICA, ALICE IN CHAINS, MASTODON, DISTURBED and GREEN DAY, among others.

“Do Not Disturb” is taken from HALESTORM‘s latest album, “Vicious”, which came out in July via Atlantic. The disc was recorded last year at Nashville, Tennesse’s Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz.

Commented HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale: “You asked for it… So we are pleased to present our video for one of our favorite tracks off our album ‘Vicious’, ‘Do Not Disturb’. This song is based off a true story of mine about a very fun night I had overseas that all started with the pick-up line ‘I think we should make out.’ And since it’s October… the boys and I decided to spooky up the story with a few, ahem… minor exaggerations.”

In a recent interview with Revolver, Lzzy elaborated on how she went about writing “Do Not Disturb”. I grew up on a lot of my parents’ music: David Lee Roth talking about sex, THE ROLLING STONES talking about sex, CINDERELLA talking about sex,” she said. “[The music has] always been an extension of what I’m interested in and what I like, but I’m also proud to come from a position of power when it comes to sex, because that is a part of my life, and a part of many women’s lives — I mean, we think about it just as much, if not more, as guys do!

“So, to be unafraid to own that on tape was very freeing for me in the studio, to the point that I actually felt bad for Nick, who has kids and has known me for years — he’s kind of like a cousin. When we were recording the vocals, he stopped the tape and was, like, ‘Um, is that what you’ve always said?’ I told him yeah, and he was, like [in a sheepish tone], ‘All right, let’s just continue … I feel a little uncomfortable, but it’s okay.'”

She continued: “It’s based on a true story. I had a lot of fun with a man and a woman a few years ago, on this amazing tour overseas. It was one of these situations where I was going to another country the next day, and I was never going to see this woman again, so it was just this freeing moment: Anything goes. The first lyric of the song, ‘I think we should make out,’ comes from my icebreaker. I remember getting up for my flight the next day. I flipped the sign on the hotel room to ‘Do Not Disturb,’ and was, like, ‘Ah, I should write that down.’ [Laughs]

“I ended up writing most of the lyrics on the plane not really knowing where it was going to land, but I’m glad that we did it. It’s truly one of my favorite songs on the record, because you know what it’s about without there being any profanity. I don’t know how they’re going to take this one on the radio. [Laughs] Like, are they going to bleep out some things, or leave it be? I’m excited for that.”

Raskulinecz is an acclaimed producer who has previously worked with RUSH, KORN, ALICE IN CHAINS and DEFTONES, in addition to having produced HALESTORM‘s third covers EP, “ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP”, which came out in January 2017.
