HELLYEAH filmed footage for a new music video on Friday, March 1 at Duff’s Brooklyn in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. The clip is for a song apparently titled “3”, which will appear on the band’s upcoming album. The LP will mark the group’s final effort with drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, who passed away in June 2018.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, the title “3” may be a reference to the fact that number three was loved by Vinnie Paul‘s brother, late PANTERA guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. More than a decade before he died, the drummer claimed that often looked up at the clock at precisely 3:33, day or night. He also said that the first demo of the title track of HELLYEAH‘s debut album, “Hellyeah”, was exactly three minutes and 33 seconds long.
Vinnie Paul‘s private funeral last June 30 began at exactly 3:33 p.m. as a nod to Dimebag‘s favorite number.
Vinnie Paul died of dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. His death was the result of chronic weakening of the heart muscle — basically meaning his heart couldn’t pump blood as well as a healthy heart.
Not long before his death, Vinnie laid down the drum tracks for HELLYEAH‘s sixth album.
Like the last two records, 2016’s “Unden!able” and 2014’s “Blood For Blood”, the new disc was recorded at The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada with producer Kevin Churko.
Dimebag, was shot to death in December 2004 while performing onstage. The Abbotts founded the bands PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN together. After Dimebag‘s death, Abbott joined Gray and other members of MUDVAYNE and NOTHINGFACE in HELLYEAH, which has released five albums.
