LEMMY Talks His Health, MOTÖRHEAD's Latest GRAMMY Nomination On 'Ace's Space' Radio Show (Audio)

MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister was interviewed on the January 7 edition of the new Internet radio show/podcast “Ace’s Space”, helmed by Reality Check TV‘s Ace Annese. You can now liten to the chat using the audio player below. A couple of excerpts follow.

On his health:

Lemmy: “Well, I’m on this phone call talking to you — aren’t I? — so I must be at least sitting up. I’m all right. We’ve been doing a few shows in Europe, and a few in the States. We just don’t do as many. But we still do tours. We’re going out soon, in fact, in Europe.”

On being nominated for a Grammy again for the song “Heartbreaker”, from the band’s latest album, “Aftershock”:

Lemmy: “I’ve already got one anyway, from 2005, for ‘Sacrifice’. I don’t mind it. It’s a nice thing to be respected by your so-called peers… But we don’t get to go on the red carpet or nothing; we have to go the day before with the Latin American jazz bands and get the awards.”

“Ace’s Space” airs every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. PST at MutinyRadio.fm.

Lemmy, 69, in 2013 suffered a haematoma (where blood collects outside of a blood vessel), causing the cancelation of a number of the band’s European festival shows. He was also reportedly fitted with a defibrillator because of heart problems.

MOTÖRHEAD‘s “Heartbreaker” was nominated in the “Best Metal Performance” category at the 57th annual Grammy Awards, which will be held on February 8 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The reissue of MOTÖRHEAD‘s 21st studio album, “Aftershock”, was made available on August 26, 2014 via UDR/Motörhead Music. The CD was helmed by longtime producer Cameron Webb (MEGADETH, DISTURBED). The expanded edition contains a bonus live CD — also recorded by Webb — consisting of live material comprised from the band’s historic appearances in early 2014.

“Aftershock” sold 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart.
