Last Friday (December 4th) on his Lithium program, SiriusXM’s Matt Pinfield spoke with drummer Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, The Cult) about the passing of his former bandmate Scott Weiland. Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, died in his sleep on December 3rd while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts.

The crew at Live In Limbo were some of the last people to interview Weiland before his tragic passing; they have posted an interview clip with the following message:
“Scott Weiland talks with Dawn Hamilton backstage at around 8:00pm, a few hours before his last performance at Adelaide Hall in Toronto on Tuesday, December 2, 2015.
We had a full crew ready to film this interview, but only got confirmation with Scott’s management 25 minutes before the time slot. Our interviewer put together this session as best she could on such short notice. Initially it would have been edited with question slides. But because of the sudden and tragic loss of Weiland’s life we all agreed to leave it unedited as much as possible.
With that said, we are honoured to be among the very last to speak with him. In this interview session, Scott reveals what he is most thankful for in life, defining his musical legacy, balancing rock attitude and fashion. He then explains his strategy if trapped in a zombie apocalypse and desert island. David Bowie is his biggest influence and would love to collaborate with him. And in a surprised answer, Weiland said that he was open to reuniting Velvet Revolver.”
Weiland passed away on December 3rd at the age of 48. Various reports indicate that Weiland’s manager discovered the singer’s lifeless body on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota where Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts were scheduled to play The Medina Ballroom that night. As of Friday night, December 4th, cause of death had yet to be determined.
Star Tribune is now reporting that one of Weiland’s bandmates, Thomas Delton Black, was arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession, according to police. Detectives said the cocaine was in the bedroom of the tour bus where Weiland was found.
Black, 47, of Studio City, CA is a member of Weiland’s current band, the Wildabouts, and was arrested on suspicion of having an additional small amount of cocaine. Black is being held by Bloomington police pending charges.
The initial 911 call came in as a possible deceased person. On the police scanner, police are heard saying it could be cardiac arrest. Police reiterated Friday that they aren’t yet releasing a cause of Weiland’s death.
