Member Of THE WILDABOUTS Arrested "On Suspicion Of Cocaine Possession" Following Death Of SCOTT WEILAND

Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland passed away on December 3rd at the age of 48. Various reports indicate that Weiland’s manager discovered the singer’s lifeless body on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota where Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts were scheduled to play The Medina Ballroom that night. As of Fiday night, December 4th, cause of death had yet to be determined.

Star Tribune is now reporting that one of Weiland’s bandmates, Thomas Delton Black, was arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession, according to police. Detectives said the cocaine was in the bedroom of the tour bus where Weiland was found.

Black, 47, of Studio City, CA is a member of Weiland’s current band, the Wildabouts, and was arrested on suspicion of having an additional small amount of cocaine. Black is being held by Bloomington police pending charges.

The initial 911 call came in as a possible deceased person. On the police scanner, police are heard saying it could be cardiac arrest. Police reiterated Friday that they aren’t yet releasing a cause of Weiland’s death.

Weiland’s former STP bandmates (Robert DeLeo, Eric Kretz, and Dean DeLeo) have released an official statement with regards to his passing:

“Dear Scott,

“Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us.

“Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.

“The memories are many, and they run deep for us.

“We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again.

“It’s what made you who you were.

“You were gifted beyond words, Scott.

“Part of that gift was part of your curse.

“With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go.

“All of our love and respect.

“We will miss you brother,

“Robert, Eric, Dean”

Weiland had a history of drug of abuse and TMZ has posted a video reporting that they spoke with Weiland’s wife, Jamie Weiland, who “vehemently denies” that he was doing any drugs and Scott has been “clean for many years.”

Scott’s last show was billed as Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts on December 1st at Adelaide Music Hall, Toronto, ON. Fan-filmed video from the performance can be seen below:
