The sixth annual San Diego Metal Swap Meet will be held on Saturday, April 11th, from 11 AM to 5 PM at Queen Bee’s, located at 3925 Ohio Street, San Diego, CA 92104.
This unique event features heavy metal themed merchants selling heavy metal related clothing, CDs, records, artwork, services and more. There will also be a beer area, Chilean barbecue for sale, and live band Slaytanic, a Slayer tribute band performing at 4 PM. This event is all-ages.
From 6 PM to midnight will be the San Diego Metal Swap Meet After Party. This will also be an all-ages concert featuring Cattle Decapitation, Dreaming Dead, Thanatology, and Eukaryst. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase at the after party.
The San Diego Metal Swap Meet is organized by Brian Parker and Israel Pelayo. Brian was the manager at the famous Blue Meannie Records until the downfall of record stores. He missed the environment of heaving a heavy metal marketplace so, decided to have a heavy metal swap meet. In 2009, the first event was held in Brian’s driveway. There were about 12 vendors and an estimated 200 person attendance. The success of the first San Diego Metal Swap Meet was such a surprise that it was decided to hold the San Diego Metal Swap Meet in a bigger venue, with more vendors and a live band.
The event has now grown to having 40 vendors, over 500 attendees, beer and food vendors, an after party with 4 bands, but has kept the underground, record store feel.
