Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON will perform their landmark 1999 album, “Rebel Extravaganza”, in its entirety at the Tons Of Rock festival in Oslo, Norway to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its release. The June 27 set will be an exclusive event and therefore, the only show where they will perform the record in full this year.
Meanwhile, SATYRICON is currently working on a major project that they expect to unveil in 2021. Details will follow in the spring.
The band’s summer festival run begins in Mexico City on May 4.
In a 2017 interview with Poland’s Inertia.pl, SATYRICON frontman Sigurd “Satyr” Wongraven stated about “Rebel Extravaganza”: “‘Rebel’ was not only a game changer for SATYRICON, but for the genre, I think. It was a time where everything [referring to black metal] was turning gothic. For us, it was very important to do something more contemporary, which didn’t have anything to do with gothic. I think that was an influential album.”
SATYRICON‘s latest album, “Deep Calleth Upon Deep”, was released in September 2017 via Napalm Records. The disc was recorded in Oslo, Norway and Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together with revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on “Now, Diabolical”).
