SCORPIONS Singer KLAUS MEINE Says The World Seems To Be 'Out Of Balance'

Asked for his opinion of the current Greek debt crisis, Meine said: “It seems like in many ways, the world is out of balance. And I hope, not only for Greece but in general, there are so many places of crisis — parts of the world [where] it’s falling all apart… And I hope we find a way together to getting out of this mess and try to move into a good, peaceful future on this planet. Like 25 years ago, when I wrote [the classic SCORPIONS ballad] ‘Winds Of Change’, I just tried to express my feelings for a peaceful world and for people coming together, coming closer together, for better understanding and all that. And it’s all, in a way, falling apart, and I certainly hope for a new ‘wind of change’ where we can all look into a peaceful future, working together, coming together and enjoying life together and overcoming all those problems.”

He continued: “Music is only a soundtrack to our lives, and I think with our fans in Greece, when we come together, it’s all about emotions and it’s all about music and it’s all about ‘forget for a moment the real world.’ That’s what music can do — to take us away on a different trip where we forget the mess we’re all in sometimes. And this is what we can bring to the… With the power of music, that’s what we can… It’s our part, and for the rest, it’s up to politicians to deal with it, and hopefully they find good ways and bring people back together and never stop the dialogue and bring people together instead of that we all drift apart, you know. Music is about bringing people together, and this is our part. And no matter where we go, it’s what we do. And it’s good sometimes… it’s good to get away and take a deep dive in the world of emotions and the world of music, to get away from what’s out there and what is happening in the real world.”

The brand-new SCORPIONS studio album “Return To Forever” was released on February 20 on CD, Deluxe CD, vinyl, Limited Collector’s Box, and several more digital and physical formats.

“Return To Forever” was recorded with Mikael Nord Andersson and Martin Hansen, who had already produced “Sting In The Tail”, and re-arranged the material for “MTV Unplugged” with guitarist Matthias Jabs.
