A short film by Nico Merkin foscusing on THE WINERY DOGS‘ May 31, 2016 appearance at at El Plaza Condesa in Mexico City can be seen below.

THE WINERY DOGS is the power trio featuring drummer Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB), legendary bassist Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, TALAS, DAVID LEE ROTH) and guitarist/vocalist Richie Kotzen (MR. BIG, POISON).

The band recently completed a tour in support of its second album, “Hot Streak”, which was released in October 2015 in North America via Loud & Proud Records.

During an appearance on the SiriusXM satellite radio show “Eddie Trunk Live”, Portnoy was asked if there are any plans for THE WINERY DOGS to record a third album once the current run of dates is completed. He said: “Yeah, at some point. We haven’t discussed specifics. We just know that this cycle is coming to a close after about nine or ten months on the road. And, you know, when it’s time to reconvene and make the next record, we’ll do that. But in the meantime, we’re gonna be putting out a live DVD/Blu-ray that we filmed in Santiago, Chile [this past May], and I think I’m also gonna be working on a CD companion with that as well with some unreleased tracks. So there’ll be some more product later in the year to kind of wrap up the cycle. And we’ll look towards a third album after we’ve recharged our batteries and all gone and done our different things. Of course, I have five other bands and Billy‘s got MR. BIG still, and Richie‘s got his solo career still. So, you know, we all have these other things that we could do in between.”

Kotzen told Pollstar earlier in the year that he will likely get right back to making another solo album once THE WINERY DOGS‘ touring commitments have been completed. “Knowing me, I always say I’m going to take a long break, I always say that in the middle of an album cycle, every time I get in the middle of a tour, I start saying, ‘All right. I need a break. I need a long break.’ But knowing me, THE WINERY DOGS‘ cycle will end and I’ll probably just dive right back into writing another record. [Laughs] So it’s a cycle but you have to have a balance. That’s the thing for me. I need that balance. I’m not the guy who can stay on the road all year long without really losing it. And I like to come home and spend time with my family. So we do that. We build that into our schedule and it works out great.”

“Hot Streak” debuted at No. 30 on The Billboard 200 chart, having shifted 13,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 8, 2015.
