VINCE NEIL: 'I'm Not A Trained Monkey'

Vince Neil was fired by Arnold Schwarzenegger on this past Monday’s episode of NBC‘s “The New Celebrity Apprentice”.

The MÖTLEY CRÜE singer was let go by the twice-elected California governor, successful businessman and international movie superstar after Neil‘s co-ed “Prima” team lost the season’s seventh task.

Schwarzenegger terminated Vince because he felt the singer was responsible for his team’s loss after coming up with an idea deemed inappropriate and being one of the weaker team members.

During his time on the show, Neil raised $769,280 for Keep Memory Alive, the charity arm of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

On the program’s premiere, Neil was criticized by Boy George for drinking while the two worked on a jingle together.

“I was a little alarmed. I’m a recovering addict,” CULTURE CLUB‘s flamboyant singer explained. “I do not need to be in the room with someone drinking alcohol. It’s just not a good look for me. I’m not happy about it at all.”

Neil told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he was “kind of shocked” by George‘s reaction. “I had a couple of glasses of wine in the studio. So what? I didn’t even know he was sober — he had decided not to tell anybody — and then he had a problem with me. It pissed me off.”

The unrepentant MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman added that scene helped prove that nothing is staged in the show.

“I was being me,” he said. “I’m not a trained monkey. I’m not the kind of guy who needed a lot of air time, like some others on the show. If I have something to say, I say it. If I don’t, I don’t.”

Following his ouster from “The New Celebrity Apprentice”, Neil said: “I’ve never been fired in my life. It’s very strange, but I think it’s been a great experience on ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’. I was able to raise a lot of money for my charity Cleveland Clinic, and I think it will be a gamechanger.”
