“I Krig” è il terzo album dei Vreid, band formata dai rimanenti membri dei Windir dopo la morte del loro compagno Valfar. A quanto leggo il titolo significa “in guerra” e si riferisce al fatto che i testi sono basati su degli scritti che trattano della resistenza norvegese durante la seconda guerra mondiale composti dall’a me sconosciuto Gunnar Reiss-Anderssen. Non conosco i dischi precedenti del gruppo, in questo caso comunque ci troviamo di fronte ad un black’n’roll con diverse influenze folk in cui le melodie sono piuttosto in evidenza, nonostante il cantato sgraziato. Chi ci segue da un po’ sa che non sono un appassionato di black, “I Krig” comunque mi è sembrato piuttosto piacevole, anche se non è un caso che le tracce più “malvagie” siano quelle che ho trovato meno interessanti: la cattiva “Væpna Lengsel” mi annoia infatti, a differenza di “Under Isen” (a mio avviso il miglior brano del lotto), con il suo andamento rockeggiante, o “Svart”, con le sue venature atmosferiche. Alla fine comunque trovo che il difetto principale del disco sia quello di essere un po’ troppo ripetitivo, inoltre la seconda parte dell’album mi è parsa un pochino inferiore alla prima.
Sinceramente non ho idea di cosa un appassionato del genere o dei vecchi lavori di questi artisti possa pensare riguardo a “I Krig”, posso però dire che personalmente ho trovato il disco piacevole ed abbondantemente sufficiente, seppur non eccezionale. Se poi “piacevole” non è la parola giusta per una band che suona del black, per quanto rockeggiante ed arricchito da venature folk, questo è un altro discorso…
